News & Press

A cause that needs to be heard, discussed and shared.

Every FEMPO story communicates much more than an event. It reflects the evolution of work that links free care, research, alliances and public commitment to recovery after breast cancer. Here we bring together reports, interviews, publications, formal agreements, awards and activities that drive our mission in Chile and around the world.

Paola Gateño receives national recognition for her contribution to the quality of life of women who have faced breast cancer

FEMPO's President and Founder was honored in the Quality of Life and Human Development category of the 2026 National Mujer Sustentable Award.

The award recognizes more than fifteen years of work bringing free oncological breast reconstruction closer to women and promoting a broader understanding of recovery after breast cancer. For FEMPO, this milestone reinforces the commitment to keep linking clinical experience, emotional well-being, research and institutional collaboration. More than an individual award, it is an opportunity to make the needs of thousands of women visible and to open conversations with new organizations willing to collaborate.

A new scientific publication broadens the conversation on oncological breast dermopigmentation

Paola Gateño publishes a clinical paper on nipple-areola complex reconstruction in tissue treated for cancer.

Published in the Journal of Chemotherapy and Cancer Research, the article addresses technical and clinical considerations for reconstruction through dermopigmentation, with a series of ten cases. Alliances

FEMPO expands its local work to bring reconstruction and emotional support to more women

Municipal alliances aim to turn institutional collaboration into programs with continuity and follow-up.

The FEMPO Foundation promotes collaboration agreements to coordinate patient referrals, oncological breast reconstruction, psycho-oncology and preventive education. These agreements make it possible to move from one-off actions to planned programs with goals, clinical criteria, institutional responsibilities and annual evaluation.
