Every figure is a woman. Every woman, a story that deserves to continue.
Mostly in Chile
FEMPO's impact cannot be reduced to a number of procedures. It is also expressed in free access to specialized care, emotional support, the building of professional capacities and the creation of ties that bring comprehensive recovery to more communities.
According to our institutional records, more than 8,000 women have received nipple-areola complex reconstruction over this journey, mainly in Chile and with international reach. This experience has strengthened our conviction that it is possible to organize programs that combine technical excellence, humanity and continuity.
We look ahead with an ambitious goal: to reach 10,000 additional women through sustained programs, alliances and broad collaboration with public and private organizations.
An impact that goes beyond what is visible
Physical dimension
Nipple-areola complex reconstruction can be a meaningful step in the recovery of some women after a mastectomy. It is performed with a specialized pigmentation technique, after a safety assessment and with attention to the condition of the skin, clinical factors and personal preferences. It does not replace medical follow-up, but it can complement a broader rehabilitation process.
Emotional dimension
Changes in body image can affect self-esteem, intimacy and the way a person sees herself after cancer. FEMPO recognizes that there is no single answer: some women want reconstruction right away, others need time, and others choose not to have it. Our commitment is to support their decisions without imposing expectations.
Social and institutional dimension
Recovery is also linked to family life, social participation, relationships and, in some cases, returning to work. That is why we promote networks that connect patients, professionals, municipalities, health institutions and companies, seeking to close access gaps and develop measurable, sustainable models of care.
Our commitment to impact requires measuring it
FEMPO proposes to report annually on women referred, assessed and treated, reconstructions performed, psycho-oncology sessions, training activities, territorial coverage and aggregated satisfaction results. This information must be presented clearly, protecting patients' identities and sensitive data.
Annual reports
We will soon publish our reports and methodologies here, without clinical identifiers. If you need institutional information, write to us.
Request informationUnique voices, different journeys
The stories we share do not claim to speak for all survivors. They are unique voices that show how professional, humane care can support different recovery journeys. Each testimony is published with express consent and can be withdrawn under the conditions agreed with the person who shares it.
The moment of recognizing oneself again is not the same for everyone. Some women find relief; others experience this step with emotion, doubts or a mix of feelings. All of them deserve to be heard. At FEMPO we value these stories because they speak of the impact of reconstruction beyond what is visible. (Testimonies are in Spanish.)
