The day she understood
From the age of 14, Paola volunteered with children with cancer at the Calvo Mackenna Hospital. Social work was never a phase in her life: it was her way of being in the world. Alongside it, there was always art. Both paths met when she trained in oncological aesthetics in Spain and began reconstructing the nipple-areola complex of women after mastectomy.
That is when she met women who had beaten breast cancer and who, even so, could not complete their reconstruction. Not for lack of wanting it. Because they could not afford it.
That was when she understood her father. Without power, justice remains a good intention.
Power, understood
For Paola, power was never an end.
It was the only way for justice to reach every woman.
She decided to build it with a single purpose: that no woman is left halfway through her reconstruction because of what she has in her pocket. And to make it happen, she created FEMPO.

Agreements with the Chilean Association of Municipalities (ACHM) and AMUCH to bring reconstruction to more municipalities.

Pilot programs with municipalities so that early detection, psycho-oncology and reconstruction become public policy.
